A twist in the Ascension Day

“Yesterday morning, in a pastoral little village, a convoy of five vehicles emerged after we’d heard it approaching for about a minute.

Then it passed right in front of us — four sleepy people with coffee, sitting on the grass outside a 200-year-old house.

A small military truck, three motorcycles, and another military truck bringing up the rear. I’d say “closing the formation,” but this wasn’t a show of strength. They didn’t look at anyone. They rolled past us with that particular kind of contempt reserved for humorless fascists.

They passed with sealed expressions, trying to control the ancient machines — loud, rattling things shaking over the stone road in front of us.

They were all wearing military uniforms. No Nazi insignias, of course… but you couldn’t miss the helmets, and the other details that, together with the olive-green vehicles, looked like they’d been pulled straight out of a film shot in 1942.

Honestly, I was genuinely shocked.

After they passed, there was embarrassment, shame, and also laughter at the bizarre spectacle. But we knew very well that this kind of filth always starts small — dressed up as something “cool,” moving to an easy rhythm, with salutes you suddenly feel like making, whether it’s a Sieg Heil, or “From the river to the sea,” or “May your Palestinian village burn.”

A kind of intellectual decay and moral laziness that lets people with not a drop of good in them tighten their grip on public consciousness.

And now seriously, for a moment — who is stupid or broken enough to look back longingly at a period when, 80 years ago, the entire world smashed apart every standing stone on German soil because of the crimes Germany committed against humanity?

Who is twisted or evil enough to dream nostalgically about endless days of persecution, hatred, explosions, death, disease, rape, theft, murder, destruction, fear, terror, and despair?

Who are these idiots who would genuinely want to drag Germany back into that searing defeat that shattered it after the devastation it unleashed on the world?

Accept

What was strange, too, was that while I was laughing at these overgrown babies, I found myself thinking about the Hilltop Youth hooligans back in Israel — except that unlike these lunatics, who spend (waste) their days on an antique fetish of reviving the third Reich, they get their vehicles and support directly from the Israeli government.

Or like someone I saw yesterday calling Smotrich and Struk “our very own SS.”

What exactly are the psychos on those hills nostalgic for? Roman expulsions? Two thousand years of exile? What exactly is their endgame?

All this just to impress that girl with the braids and the fake modest gaze when really… God help us?

Is this really how these primates prove they’re “alpha”? By throwing a defenseless Palestinian family onto the ground — backed by guns?

That’s the model???

A bunch of humorless overgrown infants drove past in military vehicles without even looking at us.

Little children who didn’t dare make eye contact with four aging people in pajamas holding coffee, staring at them in disbelief.

Afterward, I wished I’d asked them — if they were stopping by the supermarket, maybe they could use the shopping-cart token I got as a gift instead of a euro coin…

But most likely, just like a settler who demands people’s names while illegally detaining and beating passengers so he can take revenge later, these guys too would come back one night — drunk, horny, or both — and burn the empty house down. Or burn it with the people inside.

That usually just depends on the mood of the moment, and how much public approval is floating around in the air.

We’re not allowed to compare… And that’s the frightening part.
